Departmental Chairs Reception - Monday, Oct. 16

Cedars-Sinai will host a reception on Monday, Oct. 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Harvey Morse Auditorium to formally welcome new departmental chairs Bruce Gewertz, M.D., and Mahul B. Amin, M.D. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Gewertz is chair of the Department of Surgery and Amin is chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

A Night at the Theater - Wednesday, Nov. 8

Join us at the Ahmanson Theater on November 8 for the Tony Award-winning musical "The Light in the Piazza." Winner of six 2005 Tony Awards, including best score, this romantic musical features the talents of Adam Guittel and Craig Lucas in an adaptation of Elizabeth Spencer's novella. The cost is $110 per person for center orchestra seating and includes a light buffet dinner beginning at 6 p.m., prior to the 8 p.m. show. Limit two tickets per physician. Road to a Cure Gala - Thursday, Nov. 16

The Board of Governors will present the first Lifetime Achievement Award to producer/director Walter Grauman at the Cedars-Sinai gala, "Road to a Cure," at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Thursday, Nov. 16. Grauman is one of the founders of the Cedars-Sinai "Comedy and Magic Channel," which airs in patient rooms. Emmy Award-winning television personality Wayne Brady will be the master of ceremonies for the event, which begins at 6 p.m. with a reception and silent auction, followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Center for Cancer Research at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute. A Night at the Copa - Sunday, Nov. 19

The Save A Heart Foundation will honor C. Noel Bairey Merz, M.D., at the 2006 Heart Saver Award Gala on Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Regent Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills.
