New CSMC Guidelines Have Been Established

 Patients on Plavix® are at increased risk for bleeding if they require surgical procedures, and recent literature suggests that many of these patients do not require Plavix therapy at all. A Cedars-Sinai Task Force has developed new guidelines.

New Information on Avastin

The FDA and Genentech have notified health professionals of important new safety information regarding Avastin. This information concerns tracheoesophageal (TE) fistula formation that occurred in a recent clinical study in patients with limited-stage small cell lung cancer (SCLC). 

 


 
 

Eclipsys and Epic Clinical System Demonstrations Set for April 30 - May 4

 Physicians will have the opportunity next week to assess two of the three vendor products competing to be selected as Cedars-Sinai's core clinical information technology system. The process of final selection is user-driven and depends on the active participation of our medical staff, so we urge you to attend. 

 


Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. Brain Tumor Center Will Help Streamline Studies

 Cedars-Sinai will open its Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. Brain Tumor Center on Thursday, May 3 to shepherd basic research discoveries through patient trials and the government approval process. The May 3 opening will begin with a morning dedication ceremony in Harvey Morse Auditorium and conclude with an evening invitation-only gala at the Beverly Wilshire. 


 If you are currently enrolled or would like to participate in the Cedars-Sinai Physician and Service Referral Program via 1-800-CEDARS-1, you must complete the new enrollment form. Participation is completely voluntary, so you must complete an enrollment form to receive referrals through this service. 

 


 Franklin G. Moser, M.D., director of Clinical Neuroradiology and Interventional Neuroradiology at S. Mark Taper Foundation Imaging Center, recently received his Master of Medical Management. 

 Robert J. Rogers, M.D., an anesthesiologist and internist, has joined the editorial advisory board of Consultant, a journal of primary care. 

 

 

 Nicola D'Attellis, M.D., is a Canadian and Belgian citizen who is fluent in English, French and Italian, married to a French woman, and did his residency in the Bronx. 

 


 Cedars-Sinai has received a $35 million gift for prostate cancer research from the Sumner M. Redstone Charitable Foundation. The gift will support research initiatives at the Louis Warschaw Prostate Cancer Center in the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute.
