Broad Spectrum Antibiotics Auto Expire After 5 Days

Beginning mid-June 2007, the Department of Pharmacy will begin automatic expiration of broad spectrum beta-lactams (Zosyn®, Cefepime, Imipenem, Meropenem) and fluoroquinolones (Levofloxacin, Ciprofloxacin) after the fifth day of therapy.

Cedars-Sinai's stroke team was presented with the "Get with the Guidelines - Stroke Annual Performance Achievement Award" from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association at a recent ceremony held in the Board Room. 


Cedars-Sinai was recently named one of two finalists for the American Hospital Association McKesson Quest for Quality Prize 2007 in recognition of the medical center's leadership and innovation in quality and safety and its commitment to patient care.

Did you know that you could check the status of an inpatient order in Web/VS? The Orders section can be viewed by individual categories or all categories at once. The categories are Blood Products, Core Orders, Diet, Feeding, Imaging, Treatment & Services, Laboratory and Miscellaneous. 



Special Symposium Set

A new center for the treatment of sarcoma will open on Tuesday, June 12 at Cedars-Sinai's Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute. To mark the occasion, physicians and healthcare professionals will hold a Sarcoma Awareness Day symposium that day. 


Over the past few months, Cedars-Sinai physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers have worked together to identify the presence of Multi-Drug-Resistant Organisms (MDRO's) in high-risk patients at the time of admission.
