Apology/Disclosure of a Significant Adverse Event - Monday, June 18 & Tuesday, June 19

The Department of Risk Management is sponsoring two Medical Staff Grand Rounds on the topic of "Apology/Disclosure of a Significant Adverse Event" on Monday, June 18 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, June 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium. Food will be provided at both sessions. The guest speaker is Gerald Hickson, M.D., Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and director of the Center for Patient and Professional Advocacy at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. These educational sessions are intended for all Cedars-Sinai attending staff, house staff, residents and other healthcare professionals.

Bioethics Noon Conference - Wednesday, June 20

The Center for Healthcare Ethics is sponsoring a Bioethics Noon Conference on "Striking a Balance: Research with Cognitively Impaired Subjects" on Wednesday, June 20 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium. Lunch will be available at 11:30 a.m. The guest speaker is Robert M. Cohen, M.D., Ph.D., director of Psychiatry Research and chair of the Memory Disorders Program. He is also the inaugural chair holder of the Stephen C. Gordon Family Foundation Endowed Chair.

Cedars-Sinai Emeritus Society Lecture - Friday, June 29

Bruce L. Gewertz, M.D., chair of the Department of Surgery, will present a free lecture on "Can Physicians Heal Themselves?" on Friday, June 29 in Harvey Morse Auditorium at 11:30 a.m. Lunch is available for $7.50. For more information, please call Kate Samuels at (310) 892-1331.

Hollywood Bowl Fireworks Spectacular - Tuesday, July 3

Enjoy family, food and fireworks at the Bowl, featuring rousing patriotic music performed by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra with special guest artist Riders in the Sky. Annual Cedars-Sinai Sand 'N Snore - Friday, July 20

Back by popular demand, Cedars-Sinai will host its annual sleepover for the medical staff and their family members at the Jonathan Beach Club in Santa Monica. You bring the equipment (tent, sleeping bags, overnight gear) and the medical center provides the food and entertainment. Restrooms and hot showers are available nearby. The cost, which includes a barbecue dinner and breakfast, is $45 per adult and $35 per child under 12 years of age. Limit one tent per physician. If you are unable to spend the night, come for dinner and an evening on the beach for $30 per adult and $20 per child under 12 years of age.
