Lecture by Nobel Laureate Avram Hershko, Ph.D.: Monday, June 4

Research Administration and the Department of Medicine will sponsor a Grand Rounds Conference on Monday, June 4 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., featuring a lecture by Avram Hershko, Ph.D., the 2004 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry. Topic of the lecture is "The Ubiquitin System and its Roles in Health and Disease." Hershko is with the Department of Biochemistry at the Technicon University Medical School in Haifa, Israel. The conference will be held in Harvey Morse Auditorium and box lunches will be provided.

The 29th Annual Bernard Strauss, M.D. Urology Day - Thursday, June 14

This full-day conference is intended for urologists, other surgical specialists and internists and will be held on Thursday, June 14 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium. At 12 p.m., Samir S. Taneja, M.D., will present The Adolph A. Kutzmann, MD Lectureship on "The Challenge of Prostate Cancer Therapy: Too Much? Too Little? Not Enough?" Cedars-Sinai Emeritus Society Lecture - Friday, June 29

Hollywood Bowl Fireworks Spectacular - Tuesday, July 3

Enjoy family, food and fireworks at the Bowl, featuring rousing patriotic music performed by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra with special guest artist Riders in the Sky. The Annual Cedars-Sinai Sand 'N Snore - Friday, July 20

Back by popular demand, Cedars-Sinai will host its annual sleepover for the medical staff and their family members at the Jonathan Beach Club in Santa Monica. You bring the equipment (tent, sleeping bags, overnight gear) and the medical center provides the food and entertainment. Restrooms and hot showers are available nearby. The cost, which includes a barbecue dinner and breakfast, is $45 per adult and $35 per child under 12 years of age. Limit one tent per physician. If you don't want to spend the night, come for dinner and an evening on the beach for $30 per adult and $20 per child under 12 years of age. Office Orthopaedics: Essentials of Non-Operative Musculoskeletal Care - Saturday, August 18

This conference is an update and summary of common orthopaedic treatments that can be performed in the primary care physician's office.
