Barry Pressman, M.D.,

Chair of the S. Mark Taper Foundation Imaging Center, has been elected president of the American College of Radiology for the 2007-2008 term. The 30,000 members of the American College of Radiology include radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical physicists, interventional radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians. Earlier this year, Pressman was appointed by the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to the Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee.

Ruchi Mathur, M.D.,

has been appointed as associate director of the Clinical Research, Recruitment and Phenotyping Unit at the Center for Androgen Related Disorders. As associate director, she will oversee the continued growth and development of the center and its recruiting and patient screening program. In addition, Mathur will continue to pursue her clinical and educational interests as faculty in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism. She comes to Cedars-Sinai from USC, where she focused on diabetes health care delivery in the LAC system and on outcomes-related research.

David Cossman, M.D.,

Division of Vascular Surgery, addressed the Bay Surgical Society on May 17. His presentation, entitled "Healthcare Financing and the Death of a Profession," analyzed current trends in healthcare financing, legislation and the changing nature of the doctor-patient relationship, and he addressed the implications of these trends for the working physician.
