Additional Guidelines Relate to Post-Op Patient Care

 Cedars-Sinai has recently updated its therapy guidelines for Plavix® to include additional guidelines related to post-operative management of patients on this medication.

New Precautions Added to Byetta Labeling

The FDA has reviewed 30 post-marketing reports of acute pancreatitis in patients taking Byetta (exenatide), a drug used to treat adults with type 2 diabetes. An association between Byetta and acute pancreatitis is suspected in some of these cases. 

 

 
 

In tribute to his many significant career achievements, Prediman K. (P.K.) Shah, M.D., received the 2007 Pioneer in Medicine Award on Monday, accepting the award from his longtime colleague James Forrester, M.D., at the Annual Medical Staff Meeting.

 Also honored at the Annual Meeting of the Medical Staff was Clement Yang, M.D., who received the Chief of Staff Award for leading the CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) Discharge Medication Team and successfully improving CHF Discharge Medication Reconciliation at the medical center. 

 
 
 

Special Election Ballots to Be Distributed Next Week

 Constitutional Amendment ballots will be sent out to the medical staff with the Vice Chief of Staff election ballots on Monday, Oct. 22. In addition, a Special Edition of Pulse will be e-mailed on Friday, Oct. 26, with candidate statements from the two Vice Chief of Staff candidates.
