Bioethics Noon Conference - Wednesday, Sept. 19

The Center for Health Care Ethics will present its Bioethics Noon Conference on "End-of-Life Planning for End Stage Renal Disease Patients" on Wednesday, Sept. 19 from noon to 1 p.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium. Lunch will be available at 11:30 a.m. Guest speaker is Bruce G. Barlow, M.D., clinical professor of the Department of Family Practice at UC Davis.

The Matrix Conference/Dept. of Surgery Patient Safety Curriculum - Thursday, Sept. 20

A special presentation of the Matrix Conference - the Department of Surgery Patient Safety Curriculum will be held at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, in ECC-B. The conference, entitled "The Embryology of Complications: Near Misses, Close Calls and Narrow Escapes," is presented by the Department of Surgery in conjunction with the Surgical Safety Institute and will feature Richard C. Informational Meeting on Medical Mission to Guatemala - Sunday, Sept. 23

An informational meeting on the 2008 HELPS International medical mission to Guatemala will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23, in ECC-B. Anesthesiologists, pediatricians and primary care physicians are needed for this trip, scheduled for April 11 - 21, 2008. Cedars-Sinai's Cardiovascular Disease Conference - Oct. 4 & 5

Cedars-Sinai's "Controversies and Advances in the Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease" will be held on October 4 and 5 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills. The conference is co-sponsored by Cedars-Sinai and Promedica International CME in conjunction with the California chapters of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Keynote speakers include Eduardo Marbán, M.D., director of the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute. The physician fee is $795. Physicians Financial Planning Seminar - Tuesday, Oct. 9

All members of the medical staff and their spouses are invited to a financial planning seminar offered by the Community Relations Department on Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in ECC-C. Speakers from Mellon Bank, and several prominent estate planning attorneys, will discuss investment trends/strategies and techniques for generating income from assets. You will be receiving a program planning survey in the next two weeks to find out what topics our staff, Emeritus physicians, and attending physicians and their spouses would like to learn more about.
