First All-L.A. Emergency Medicine Conference

Event Draws 200 Participants from Los Angeles-Area Hospitals

Cedars-Sinai was the site of the first all-Los Angeles Emergency Medicine Conference yesterday as more than 200 attending physicians and residents from several area medical centers convened in Harvey Morse Auditorium.

The conference was geared primarily towards residents, who came to the morning program to hear medical experts discuss topics that included infectious disease, therapeutic hypothermia and decision-making in Emergency Medicine. In addition to Cedars-Sinai, participants included L.A. County/USC, UCLA Medical Center, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, UCLA/Olive View and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

(l-r) Sam Torbati, M.D., James Loftus, M.D., Laurence Friedman, M.D., and Joel Geiderman, M.D., take a break during the conference. Dr. Loftus and Dr. Geiderman are co-chairs of Emergency Medicine at Cedars-Sinai.

"Hosting this first-ever conference is quite a coup for us," said Joel Geiderman, M.D., co-chair of Emergency Medicine at Cedars-Sinai and a participant in the conference panel discussion on ER medications and treatment therapies.

(l-r) Cedars-Sinai's Dan Katz, M.D., talks with Pamela Dyne, M.D., UCLA Medical Center, and Scott Takano, M.D., Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
