At Tufts Medical School in Boston, student Jessica Hsu (center) is overjoyed to learn she has been accepted for a residency in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Cedars-Sinai. Each spring, thousands of medical school seniors across the country apply for residency programs at teaching hospitals as part of Match Day.

About 80 of the students were accepted at Cedars-Sinai. "At least 30 applicants apply for each available opening here so it's very competitive," said Mark Noah, M.D., medical director of Graduate and Continuing Medical Education.
