The flu vaccine will also be administered at various hospital locations each weekday this month. Among the dates, times and locations:

"This year, our goal is to vaccinate everyone at Cedars-Sinai," said Rekha Murthy, M.D., director of Hospital Epidemiology. "Vaccine manufacturers are producing an all-time high supply of the vaccine this season - up to 146 million doses - so there is enough vaccine for everyone for whom flu vaccine is recommended, which includes all healthcare workers."

The flu vaccine protects against the three main flu strains that research indicates will cause the most illness during the flu season. The 2008-09 influenza vaccine contains three new influenza virus strains to protect against the flu - A/Brisbane/59/2007(H1N1)-like virus; A/Brisbane/10/2007 (H3N2)-like virus; and B/Florida/4/2006-like virus.
