Jack M. Matloff, M.D., founder of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the hospital, received the 2008 Pioneer in Medicine Award from Vice Chief of Staff Norman Schulman, M.D., at the Oct. 20 meeting and luncheon.

CS-Hosted Seminar Explores Fetal Neurology

If it's Monday, this must be England.

On the first Monday of each month, physicians at Cedars-Sinai call together the world's experts to discuss a case in the emerging field of fetal neurology.

The collaboration via videoconferencing technology was initiated in January by Siegfried Rotmensch, M.D., Director of Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Leading experts from Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, England, France, Germany, Israel, Italy and Switzerland participate with a multidisciplinary team from Cedars-Sinai.

Viewing Web/VS on an iPhone or iPod Touch

Web/VS access is now available on iPhones and the iPod Touch.

In order to view Web/VS, your iPhone or iPod should be running version 2.1 of the Apple iPhone software. For compatibility purposes, the Web/VS screen size has been reduced. It currently is not optimized to run as a full-screen iPhone application and some features of Web/VS have been removed.

Dr. Bender, co-director of the Cedars-Sinai Urology Center and former chief of staff, talks about why he picked his specialty, how he met his wife, and the path to changing state law.

Developing efficient clinical research model top priority

Howard Sandler, M.D., started Oct. 20 as chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute. Helping create "a nimble, flexible research environment" in Cedars-Sinai's Department of Radiation Oncology is among his goals.

Early registration for Cedars-Sinai's fourth annual 5K Run for Her is due by Sunday, Nov. 9.
