'Remember the Titans' coach was speaker

Sheila Kar, M.D., (left) and Joel Geiderman, M.D., (right) talk with guest speaker Herman Boone at Cedars-Sinai's seventh annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration, presented by the medical staff and the medical center on Jan. 26.

Dr. Geiderman, who co-chaired the program with Keith L. Black, M.D., delivered the event's opening remarks. Dr. Kar was also involved in the event's planning.

When three Virginia high schools merged in 1971, Boone was chosen over the football coach of an all-white school to become the head coach of the TC Williams High School Titans. He led the team to the state championship.

Angel City Chorale performed a musical tribute.

A separate window will pop up displaying the "Case and Face Sheets." Click on a face sheet icon to view and print a face sheet. If there is only one case on file, the pop-up window will go directly to the face sheet.
