FDA recalls oral sodium phosphate products

After a recent FDA warning regarding acute phosphate nephropathy associated with the use of oral sodium phosphate products for bowel preparation, all over-the-counter and prescription products have been recalled and will be unavailable until further notice.

Upon re-evaluation, the companies producing these medications may elect to completely withdraw this product from the market permanently or reintroduce oral sodium phosphate products with labeling changes.

Read the warning at http://www.fda.gov/medwatch/safety/2008/safety08.htm#OSP.
