MLK Celebration 2010Alvin F. Poussaint, M.D., spent part of the 1960s providing medical care to civil rights workers and aiding in the desegregation of Southern hospitals.

A renowned author, psychiatrist and educator, Dr. Poussaint shared his story with the Cedars-Sinai community at the eighth annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration on Monday, Jan. 18, in Harvey Morse Auditorium. The event was sponsored by the medical staff and the medical center.

Dr. Poussaint is an expert on the dynamics of racial and ethnic relations in America and served as a script consultant to The Cosby Show. He continues to work with Bill Cosby in their newest collaboration, Come On, People! On the Path from Victims to Victors, a message for families and communities.

A performance by Jonathan Grier and Tribe of Judah capped off the event.
