You’ve Got Questions? We've Got Answers

There are many changes that will be occurring as of Oct. 23 with the Inpatient Phase 2 (IP2) go-live of CS-Link™.

To help communicate these changes to physicians, physician champions have begun rounding with W.O.W.s (Workstations on Wheels). They will be rounding periodically through the IP2 go-live to update physicians on CS-Link and Web/VS. They will also be listening to your feedback on the changes occurring Oct. 23.

Below are answers to some top-of-mind questions the CS-Link project team has been hearing. If you have additional questions, please direct them to AskCSLink@cshs.org or a Physician Champion wearing a green "CS-Link MD Champion" hangtag. Also, the MD Support hot line at ext. 3-2828 has expanded to address both your CS-Link and Web/VS needs.

Which physicians will receive CS-Link training for IP2?
CareVue is being replaced by CS-Link on Oct. 23. Physicians who use CareVue today to document elements of patient care will be trained prior to using CS-Link.

  • Physicians who use CareVue to document in the ICUs today will be receiving four hours of training: two hours of CS-Link documentation classroom training and a two-hour, hands-on workshop.
  • All other physicians will be able to find all clinical data in Web/VS and not need training for IP2. There will be a small group of non-ICU physicians that will get CS-Link view training and access for IP2 to support specific clinical data needs.

Physicians who will be documenting in CS-Link will be personally invited for training sessions that began late last month.

How will I view nursing and other clinical care documentation as of Oct. 23?
All documentation done in CS-Link will be viewable in Web/VS. The exact location in Web/VS for CS-Link documentation will be launched a few weeks prior to the IP2 as a communication vehicle.

Will there be enough clinical workstations at IP2?
Yes. We have significantly increased the number of clinical workstations to meet the needs of nurses, clinical care staff and physicians who will be documenting in CS-Link. Currently, we plan to increase the total number of clinical workstations by 131 percent from November 2009.

How can I best support the nurses at IP2 go-live?
Changes experienced by nursing and other clinical care staff will be significant as most documentation will now be done in CS-Link. You can offer support to nurses and other clinical care providers by remaining patient and considerate as they learn to use CS-Link during this time of transition. Please do not ask the nurses to print the paper chart for you.
