Free Flu Shots Now Available

Free influenza vaccinations are now available to medical staff, including private physicians, in Employee Health Service (EHS) located in SSB-200. Appointments and walk-ins are welcome from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Web/VS Tip of the Week

PACS Images can be accessed in Web/VS as follows:

  1. Log into Web/VS and select a patient in the usual way.
  2. Select PACS Images from the "Reports" menu OR click the "PACS" icon displayed to the left of a report title on either the Imaging Reports list or the Recent Results listing.

Dr. Raj Makkar Receives Interventional Cardiology Chair

Cardiologist is a leader in transcatheter aortic valve replacement research

Raj Makkar, M.D., knew he wanted to work at Cedars-Sinai as a youngster in India after watching cardiology pioneer Eliot Corday, M.D., and his son, Stephen, on television. A few years later, Stephen Corday, M.D., a renowned cardiologist in his own right, became Dr. Makkar’s mentor as he performed his first angiograms as a fellow at Cedars-Sinai in 1993.

The journey came full circle at a ceremony Wednesday when Dr. Makkar was named the inaugural chairholder of the Stephen R. Corday, M.D., Chair in Interventional Cardiology.

Physicians Invited to Medical Student Reception

All medical staff members are invited to attend the annual Arthur I. Johnson, M.D., Memorial Medical Student Reception on Tuesday, Oct. 19, starting at 6 p.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium.

Each fall, Cedars-Sinai hosts this event to introduce students from local medical schools to the array of training opportunities at the medical center. Cedars-Sinai is committed to attracting a diverse group of medical trainees and all interested students are encouraged to attend this event.

This beautifully designed machine was recently donated to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Historical Conservancy by a retired obstetrician-gynecologist. The device was used for many years here at Cedars-Sinai.
