MEC Update

At its Sept. 3, 2010, meeting, the Medical Executive Committee revised the rules and regulations regarding attendance at committees and added a step to the physician hand hygiene accountability plan, among other things.

Physician News

Robert C. Klapper, M.D.

Robert Klapper MDDr. Klapper will be the keynote speaker at the 93rd annual meeting of The Hospital for Special Surgery. The meeting will be held in New York City on Nov. 13.

Dr. Klapper is director of the Joint Replacement Program at the Cedars-Sinai Orthopaedic Center and an orthopaedic surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Group. At the meeting, he will discuss art and medicine and the creative connection that has led to numerous patents for hip, knee and shoulder surgical tools that have been used in millions of cases around the world.

Howard N. Allen, M.D., and Robert J. Siegel, M.D.

After 32 years of distinguished service as the program director of weekly Heart Institute Grand Rounds (formerly called the Cardiology Grand Rounds), Dr. Allen has passed the baton to Dr. Siegel.

The Division of Cardiology and the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute expressed their appreciation to Dr. Allen for his devotion and dedication to cardiology and Cedars-Sinai at a recent ceremony.
