Weekly Drawings for $100 Gas Card – Month of April

This month, blood and platelet donors will be eligible to win a $100 Arco gas gift card. One gift card will be given away each week. Lung Cancer for the Clinician – April 16

Leaders in the field will present the latest on staging, screening, cost-effective work-up, surgical advances and other new targeted therapies in meaningful terms for the clinician. Both non-small cell and small cell lung cancer will be addressed. The one-day course will be held from 8 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, in Harvey Morse Auditorium.

Palm Sunday Service – April 17

Dr. Leon Morgenstern Great Debates in Clinical Medicine – April 28

The eighth annual resident competition is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, in the Educational Conference Center. Women and Ischemic Heart Disease Symposium – April 29

This in-depth symposium will explore gender-specific issues in prevalence, risk factors, screening modalities and medical management strategies, including anti-atherosclerotic management, symptom management and revascularization; and review 2007 guidelines for the prevention of CVD in women. It will be held from 7:45 a.m. to 5:45 a.m. on Monday, April 28, in Harvey Morse Auditorium.

Stem Cell Therapies for Neurological Disorders Research Conference – April 30

This one-day conference will address the use of stem cell research and applications for neurological disorders. It will acknowledge the successful breakthroughs along with the latest advances, as well as offer active discussions regarding the existing barriers that have limited further advances of stem cell therapies that potentially could lead to new concepts and innovations for treatment. Annual Basketball Game – May 15

The Cedars-Sinai Alumni Association and Community Health & Education are sponsoring the annual Housestaff Blues vs. Attending Staff Gomers Basketball game. The annual game is free and open to the community. It will be held on Sunday, May 15, at the Beverly Hills High School “Swim Gym,” 241 Moreno Drive. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the game starts at noon. Free refreshments will be available.

Clinical and Translational Research Workshop – Applications Due June 1

Junior and mid-level clinical researchers working in translational medicine are invited to apply for an intensive one-week workshop in design, statistical methods, and issues in clinical and translational research that will be held July 25-29 at Cedars-Sinai. Students will be expected to work on their own grant application throughout the week. To apply, visit www.cedars-sinai.edu/summerworkshop2011. The application deadline is June 1.
