Multivitamin and Multi-Trace Metals Injection Shortage Resolved

Please note that the Pharmacy Department has been able to secure a sufficient amount of both Infuvite Adult Injectable MVIs (this formulation contains small amounts of Vitamin K-150mcg/10ml) and Adult Multi-Trace Metals (MTE-4). Therefore, these shortages are considered to be resolved at this time.

How Do White Blood Cells Detect Invaders to Destroy?

Research Corner

Scientists are one step closer to understanding how our bodies fight disease thanks to a discovery made at Cedars-Sinai. Researchers here found how a receptor on the surface of white blood cells can tell when invading fungi pose an immediate infectious threat. The discovery provides insight into how the body's immune system saves energy by not wasting its "ammo" on invaders that aren't as serious.

Drawing for $100 Gas Card – Month of May

Blood and platelet donors will be eligible to win a $100 Arco gas gift card through the end of May. To donate blood, contact John Barr at barrjx@cshs.org or ext. 3-2637. Hospital Week Plaza Party – May 27

To celebrate Hospital Week, there will be a party on the North Plaza Level from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 27. Medical staff members are invited for food, fun and giveaways.

Muslim Prayer Service – May 27

Muslim prayer services are held every Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Chapel. For information, contact Chaplaincy at ext. 3-2040.

Remembering Jeffery Williams – May 31

A memorial service for Jeffery Williams, manager, Environmental Health and Safety, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, in Harvey Morse Auditorium. Williams passed away in April. He began his career at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 1988, after completing several tours with the U.S. Air Force as a captain who oversaw flight/ground safety and reconnaissance missions.

Fundamentals of Jewish Thought – May 31

Jewish Chaplaincy invites everyone to join Rabbi Jason Weiner’s “Fundamentals of Jewish Thought” on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in the Chapel. The class is studying the “Tanya,” Jewish mystical thought. The class is also broadcast on Channel 19.

Weekly Bible Study – May 31

The Rev. Denise LaChance, the Christian chaplain, holds weekly bible study from noon to 1 p.m. every Tuesday in Harvey Morse Conference Room 6.

Book Fair – May 31

The Helping Hand Gift Shop will host a book fair on Tuesday, May 31, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Cafeteria Conference Center. Proceeds from the event will benefit Cedars-Sinai.

Clinical and Translational Research Workshop – Applications Due June 1

Junior and mid-level clinical researchers working in translational medicine are invited to apply for an intensive one-week workshop in design, statistical methods, and issues in clinical and translational research that will be held July 25-29 at Cedars-Sinai. Hail to the Chief Complaint – June 3

Leo Gordon, M.D., will present the lecture "Hail to the Chief Complaint - What Ails the White House?" at this Cedars-Sinai Emeritus Physician's Society event. Lunch will be served; free for emeritus members and $15 for non-members. The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium on Friday, June 3. Spine Care Conference – June 7

The Cedars-Sinai Spine Center will host an educational conference on June 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Harvey Morse Auditorium. The conference will explore multidisciplinary approaches for chiropractors and acupuncturists. I Feel a Lump … Now What? – June 30

Many women may feel a breast lump and wonder what they should do next. At this community education lecture, Cedars-Sinai experts will provide information to help you take the appropriate steps in the event that you feel a lump. The lecture takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, in Thalians Auditorium. Speakers will be Catherine Dang, M.D., associate director Wasserman Breast Cancer Risk Reduction Program, and Donald S. Cohen, M.D., Mammography section chief at the S.
