National Alliance on Mental Illness Walk - Oct. 1

A team from Cedars-Sinai will participate in the NAMI Walks event on Saturday, Oct. 1, in Santa Monica. Check-in for the event begins at 8:30 a.m. with the opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. at the Third Street Promenade (1300 block). Orthopaedic Aspects of the Growing Child - Oct. 1

This one-day course will present pediatricians and family physicians with current information on the diagnostic processes for common pediatric orthopaedic conditions using an algorithm‐based approach. Scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium.

Fundamentals of Jewish Thought - Oct. 4 and 11

Jewish Chaplaincy invites everyone to join Rabbi Jason Weiner's "Fundamentals of Jewish Thought" on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in the Chapel.

Kol Nidre Services - Oct. 7

Rabbi Jason Weiner will conduct Kol Nidre services at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, in Harvey Morse Auditorium. The services will also be broadcast on channel 50 of the inpatient TV system.

Yom Kippur Services - Oct. 8

Rabbi Jason Weiner will conduct Yom Kippur services at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, in Harvey Morse Auditorium. The services will also be broadcast on channel 50 of the inpatient TV system.

CicLAvia - Oct. 9

Cedars-Sinai has partnered with the City of Los Angeles, the LA County Bicycle Coalition, Metro and Choose Health LA to hold CicLAvia on Sunday, Oct. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event gives people a break from the stress of car traffic by opening select streets in the city for walking, running, bicycling and having fun.

Imaging Core 101 - Oct. 10

Imaging Core 101 is a meeting for all Cedars-Sinai clinicians, researchers and support staff who would like to learn more about the capabilities and policy/procedural updates for new Imaging Research Core Facility. The meeting will be held on Monday, Oct. 10, from 1:30 to 3p.m.in Harvey Morse Auditorium.

Promise and Reality of Genetic Testing in Clinical Neurology - Oct. 19

Carole Browner, PhD, professor and chair of the Department of Anthropology at UCLA, will discuss "The Promise and Reality of Genetic Testing in Clinical Neurology: The Interplay of Hope and Expectation" and the Ethics Noon Conference on Wednesday, Oct. 19. The event, sponsored by Cedars-Sinai's Center for Healthcare Ethics, will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium with lunch available at 11:30 a.m.

Breast Cancer Panel Discussion - Oct. 20

Cedars-Sinai experts will participate in a panel discussion about breast cancer on Thursday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium. The event is free and open to employees, patients and the public. For more information, call ext. 3-9373.

Brain Tumor Research 5K/10K Run/Walk - Nov. 1

Team Tumor Terminators will be among those from Cedars-Sinai participating in the Race for Research, which benefits brain tumor research, on Sunday, Nov. 6, at Dockweiler State Beach in Los Angeles. You can sign up to run or walk a 5K or a 10K for $30. Children are welcome to take part in the Kids Fun Run for $15. For more information, visit heroesofhoperace.org.
