Inpatient psychiatry admissions to cease Feb. 4

Effective Saturday, Feb. 4, at 12:01 a.m., patients will no longer be admitted to 3 West, the inpatient psychiatry unit, as part of the previously announced changes in psychiatry. Patients requiring inpatient psychiatry services who present to our Emergency Department will be referred to other facilities.

Itai Danovitch, MD, has been selected as the new chair of Cedars-Sinai's Department of Psychiatry. As chair of the newly restructured department, Danovitch will lead faculty and staff through the transformation of the department with a focus on providing high-quality patient care through its hospital-based consultation/liaison services.

Maya named co-chair of Department of Imaging

Marcel Maya, MD, has been selected as the new co-chair of the Department of Imaging at Cedars-Sinai. As co-chair, Maya will be working closely with department chair Barry D. Pressman, MD, in handling the administrative responsibilities of the department.

Cedars-Sinai's Medical Library is selling copies of the 2012 Physician's Desk Reference for $20 - a quarter of the cost charged by most booksellers.

Teen Volunteer applications available Feb. 1

Do you know a young person who is interested in participating in our Teen Volunteer Program? They might be interested in pursuing a life in medicine, making a difference in our community or just in need of community service hours. Those who will be at least 14 years old by June 1 are encouraged by the Volunteer Services Department to apply to this program.
