Cedars-Sinai ranked among best in 2012-13 U.S News & World Report Best Hospitals issue

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has 12 medical specialties nationally ranked in the 2012-13 America's Best Hospitals issue of U.S. News & World Report, which was released today. Cedars-Sinai was also named as No. 2 among all hospitals in California.

Cedars-Sinai is among an elite group of hospitals that had more than 10 specialties ranked in the top 50 nationwide.

Of the roughly 5,000 hospitals in the U.S, fewer than 150 scored high enough to be ranked in even a single specialty.

The 12 Cedars-Sinai specialties ranked were: cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; neurology and neurosurgery; gastroenterology; geriatrics; gynecology; nephrology; orthopedics; pulmonology; urology; diabetes and endocrinology; and ear, nose and throat.

"While we are grateful for this recognition, it is the dedication and commitment to quality patient care that our talented physicians and staff undertake each day that make Cedars-Sinai unique," said Thomas M. Priselac, Cedars-Sinai's president and CEO.

U.S. News rankings are based on mortality rate, patient safety and other factors, as well as reputation as rated by a group of physicians from across the nation.
