Medical Staff Leadership Development Program starts new session in September

Cedars-Sinai's Medical Staff Leadership Development Program will start a new session in September. The program is aimed to train and motivate future physician leaders. Participants are nominated by department chairs and members of the Medical Executive Committee.

Joining a capacity crowd at the Hollywood Bowl on July 3, more than 360 medical staff members and their families enjoyed a night of patriotic music, spectacular fireworks and a special performance by American pop icon Barry Manilow, who led the Bowl's popular tribute to our nation's birthday.

Patient classification orders alert expanded

CS-Link update for physicians

The pilot on the 5th floor with a CS-Link™ alert to remind physicians to enter patient classification orders has been expanded to the 7th floor. Classification Orders include "observation" status and "inpatient" status.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has 12 medical specialties nationally ranked in the 2012-13 America's Best Hospitals issue of U.S. News & World Report, which was released today. Cedars-Sinai was also named as No. 2 among all hospitals in California.

Kappa:lambda ratio reference range adjusted

Kappa and lambda free light chain (FREELITE™) testing on serum is moving to a new instrument platform, SPAPLUS™ on Wednesday, Aug. 1. Thus, the kappa:lambda ratio range will be changed to 0.26-1.65 (from 0.19-1.42) that day.

Restricted distribution programs required for bosentan, ambrisentan

June Pharmacy and Therapeutics decisions released

Due to the risk of teratogenicity associated with bosentan and ambrisentan, manufacturers of both drugs require that prescribers and patients be enrolled in restricted distribution programs. Please note that bosentan and ambrisentan are non-formulary at Cedars-Sinai.

Mural illustrates Jewish legacy in medicine

Time moves from left to right in the Harvey Morse Auditorium, where "Jewish Contributions to Medicine," the mural that lines the wall, blends art with history. From the concept of a weekly day of rest, as called for in the Fourth Commandment in the Old Testament, to panels that celebrate specific medical contributions throughout the centuries, the mural reveals how much Jewish doctors and scientists, as well as Jewish law itself, have contributed to the growth of medicine.
