Women's Health Research Symposium - May 30

Sarah J. Kilpatrick, MD, PhD, chair, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, will host a Women's Health Research Symposium on Wednesday, May 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. in ECC-B. Marla Dubinsky, MD, director, Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center, will discuss "The safety of IBD medications in pregnancy and neonatal outcomes." The Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute will honor Eugene Braunwald, MD, Distinguished Hersey Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, with this inaugural prize on Thursday, May 31, at 3 p.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium.

SOCCI Clinical and Translational Research Workshop - June 1 application deadline

The third annual Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute Clinical and Translational Research Workshop, scheduled for July 30 through Aug. 3 at Cedars-Sinai, is designed for junior/mid-level clinical researchers who have completed their doctoral degrees, are working in translational medicine and are seeking to keep current with advances in clinical trial design and translational research. Preserving Tradition in Sickness and Health: The Jewish Hospital in the History of American Healthcare - June 13

Alan M. Kraut, PhD, professor of history at American University in Washington, D.C., will deliver the Rabbi Levi Meier Memorial Lecture on Jewish Values in Patient Care at the Ethics Noon Conference. Glenn D. Braunstein, MD, vice president of Clinical Innovation, and Larry Platt, chair of the Cedars-Sinai Board of Directors will also speak. The event will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, in Harvey Morse Auditorium. Lunch will be available at 11:30 a.m. The lecture is presented by the Center for Healthcare Ethics and supported by the Bernard and Gloria Salick Foundation in memory of Blanche and Max Martin Salick.

An Introduction to the MMPI-2-RF - June 15

This six-hour workshop on Friday, June 15, introduces the 338-item version of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 Restructured Form. The program is designed for psychologists, neuropsychologists, students and other health practitioners interested in mental health and the assessment of psychological conditions. The event will be held in Thalians Auditorium with breakfast and registration starting at 8:30 a.m. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute Research Poster Presentation - June 29

Clinical and translational science cancer research posters will be on display and researchers will be available for discussion at the fourth annual Poster Presentation on Friday, June 29, from noon to 2 p.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium. Hollywood Bowl Concert and Fireworks - July 3

Celebrate our country's Independence Day with rousing patriotic music and the familiar tunes of special guest Barry Manilow at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday, July 3. Tickets are $125 per adult and $60 per child under age 12. Parking passes also are available: valet at $35 or lower terrace at $17. Annual Sand N' Snore - July 20

The dinner, sleepover and breakfast starts on Friday, July 20, at the Jonathan Beach Club in Santa Monica. Those who don't want to sleep on the sand are welcome to enjoy dinner and the evening with colleagues and their families. There's a limit of one tent per physician. Tickets for the whole event are $60 per adult and $40 for each child 12 and younger. Tickets for Friday's dinner only are $45 per adult and $20 for each child 12 and younger.
