5 SE to Close for Replacement of Nurse Call System

To help further enrich the health, safety and satisfaction of our patients, Cedars-Sinai will replace its current nurse call system with the Responder 5 Nurse Call System on 5 Southeast. In addition, the flooring will be replaced in the entire unit as part of renovation efforts. To complete this work, 5 Southeast will be closed for three weeks beginning Monday, April 14.

Ramzy Named Lung Transplant Surgical Director

Danny Ramzy, MD, PhD, has been appointed surgical director of the Cedars-Sinai Lung Transplant Program. Ramzy joined Cedars-Sinai in 2011, and he directs the medical center's Extracorporeal Life Support Program. He is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute.

Film About Triple-Organ Recipient on View April 15

To commemorate National Donate Life Month, the Cedars-Sinai Comprehensive Transplant Center will present the documentary film "Heart to Heart" on Tuesday, April 15, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium. The half-hour film about Cedars-Sinai transplant patient Jim Stavis will show continuously during that time.

Van Eyk to Direct New Advanced Clinical Biosystems Research Institute

Prominent proteomic and cardiac scientist Jennifer Van Eyk, PhD, has been named the inaugural director of the Cedars-Sinai Advanced Clinical Biosystems Research Institute. Van Eyk also will lead basic research at the Cedars-Sinai Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center aimed at unlocking the mysteries of gender differences in heart disease.
