Cal MediConnect and Changes for Dual-Eligible Patients

As you know, insurance plan changes are happening for seniors and people with disabilities who are dually eligible for both Medicare and Medi-Cal. This patient population is often referred to as "dual eligible" or "medi-medi." New Research Center Aims for More Efficient Care

Cedars-Sinai has launched an applied research center to improve the value of patient care by strengthening patient-doctor bonds and bringing greater efficiency to the delivery of clinical services. Brennan Spiegel, MD, MSHS, will lead the new Cedars-Sinai Center for Outcomes Research and Education (CS-CORE).

Nominations Sought for Pioneer in Medicine Award

Deadline for Submissions Is Aug. 15

Members of the medical staff are encouraged to nominate a candidate for the 2014 Pioneer in Medicine award. This award is given to a member of the medical staff who has made clinical and research contributions recognized at Cedars-Sinai and in the national or international medical communities. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Aug. 15.

Conference Hears of Retinal Device for Alzheimer's

A noninvasive optical imaging device developed at Cedars-Sinai can provide early detection of changes that later occur in the brain and are a classic sign of Alzheimer's disease, according to preliminary results from investigators conducting a clinical trial in Australia. The researchers presented their findings July 15 at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
