Robotics in medicine is the subject of this year's Dr. Leon Morgenstern Great Debates in Clinical Medicine Resident Competition. Kicking off the first Cedars-Sinai Founders Day, the debate will convene for its 11th year on Friday, June 6, at 8 a.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium.

Cedars-Sinai will inaugurate Founders Day next month as it unveils a preview of its Historical Conservancy exhibit. Scheduled for Friday, June 6, Founders Day will be an annual observance of the day in 1976 that Cedars-Sinai first opened in its present location. The day will include the Dr. Leon Morgenstern Great Debates in Clinical Medicine Resident Competition, as well as a lunchtime presentation on Cedars-Sinai history.

A new study has found that the blood-thinning drug Pradaxa® has a lower risk than warfarin of clot-related strokes, bleeding in the brain and death, but a higher risk of major gastrointestinal bleeding. Also, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has warned that the insomnia drug Lunesta® can cause next-day impairment of driving and other activities that require alertness.
