Alerts Issued for Linaclotide, Omalizumab

Pharmacy Focus

A new boxed warning from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration says linaclotide capsules are contraindicated in patients up to 6 years old, and the FDA has issued a new alert regarding omalizumab.

New Flu Policy Takes Effect Nov. 1

To help protect the health and safety of patients, visitors and staff, Cedars-Sinai is implementing a new flu vaccination policy that will be in effect for the duration of the flu season, from Nov. 1 through March 31, 2015. The new policy applies across the health system and is the same for everyone, including medical staff.

Effective immediately, Cedars-Sinai Health System is implementing an expanded set of procedures aimed at detecting and isolating patients with risk factors and symptoms of potential Ebola virus disease (EVD) who may present in any Cedars-Sinai outpatient offices/clinics and procedural areas.

Physicians with patients suspected of stroke will find it easier to determine if imaging is medically necessary by using a new pathway. The new diagnostic Stroke Imaging Pathway is available via CS-Link™ and is designed to assist physicians with Code Brain and Non-Code Brain CVA patients.

Kerlan-Jobe, Santa Monica Orthopedic Groups Officially Join Cedars-Sinai

Cedars-Sinai Health System has finalized an agreement with the Institute for Sports Sciences for two of the nation's most prominent orthopedic and sports medicine physician groups — Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic and Santa Monica Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Group — to become formally affiliated with Cedars-Sinai.
