FDA Warns About Hepatitis, Hyperkalemia Drugs

Pharmacy Focus

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has released a warning regarding the risk of serious liver injury with use of hepatitis treatments Viekira Pak and Technivie. Also, the FDA is requiring the manufacturer of the hyperkalemia drug Kayexalate to conduct studies to investigate Kayexalate's potential to bind to other medications administered by mouth.

Matthew Bloom, MD, received an award from the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, Mehrnaz Hadian, MD, MS, became the first to complete the Keck Bioscience Industry Law and Practice Certificate program, and Michele Tagliati, MD, published an invited editorial in Lancet Neurology.
