Cedars-Sinai Keeps Eye on Reports of Zika Virus

Cedars-Sinai is monitoring reports of the Zika virus, the mosquito-borne illness whose ongoing transmission across southern Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America has prompted travel advisories for pregnant women.

Prepare for LA Marathon Street Closures Feb. 14

The Los Angeles Marathon will be held Sunday, Feb. 14, and could affect commutes to Cedars-Sinai from multiple directions. Numerous street closures will begin at 4 a.m., including some freeway ramps. Physicians headed to the medical center that morning are advised to arrive before 5 a.m., when most of the road closures near Cedars-Sinai will begin.

Nominations are open for the 2016 Cedars-Sinai Prize for Research in Scientific Medicine (PRISM), which is designed to recognize and encourage a scientific and medical breakthrough in basic or clinical/translational science. The deadline for applications is April 1.

Symposium on Diabetes, Obesity Set for Feb. 18-19

The two-day "Inaugural Cedars-Sinai Symposium on Diabetes and Obesity: Wellness and Translational Science," organized by the Cedars-Sinai Diabetes and Obesity Research Institute for Feb. 18-19, will bring together world-renowned experts to present the latest findings and innovations in these fields. More than 15 speakers, including several members of the Cedars-Sinai medical staff, are scheduled.
