Providing a historical context for California's new End of Life Option Act, one of Oregon's leading public health officials recently visited Cedars-Sinai to present a portrait of her state's experience with a similar law that took effect nearly two decades ago.

Flu Shot Clinics Continue

To help protect the health and safety of patients, visitors and staff, all Cedars-Sinai staff must get an annual flu vaccination by Friday, Oct. 14. Staff working in all patient care areas and those who have business at the main medical center will be required to be vaccinated.

A Cedars-Sinai grant supports the center's comprehensive family violence intervention services and its STOP Partner Abuse/Violence Program.

Grant to Fund Research on Cardiac Cell Therapy

Building on the results of a Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute study published six months ago, the U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a $10 million grant to fund a cardiac cell therapy trial for patients diagnosed with a common but difficult-to-treat form of heart failure.

Norwood Clark and Sam Small Jr. were among more than 50 men who took advantage of the 27th Annual Free Prostate Cancer Education & Screening Program this month at Cedars-Sinai. Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer for men in the United States.

Birth Community Day Stresses Shared Decisions

Helping mothers feel supported, informed and at ease during pregnancy and childbirth was the central idea behind Cedars-Sinai's fourth annual Birth Community Day, which brought together more than 130 mothers, doulas, midwives, nurses and physicians.

Pandol Receives Pancreatic Research Award

Stephen J. Pandol, MD, is the 2016 recipient of the prestigious Nobility in Science award, bestowed annually by the nonprofit National Pancreas Foundation, which funds research on pancreatic diseases. The award honors physicians who have made outstanding achievements in pancreatic research and treatment.
