Cedars-Sinai Precision Health made its debut last week, offering a compelling preview of a new world of medicine in which advanced data on an individual's genes, proteins and even digestive processes would drive personalized healthcare for patients.

Flu Shots Clinics Begin

To help protect the health and safety of patients, visitors and staff, all Cedars-Sinai staff must get an annual flu vaccination by Friday, Oct. 14. Staff working in all patient care areas and those who have business at the main medical center will be required to be vaccinated.

High Holidays Services Set for October

Senior Rabbi Jason Weiner, manager of Spiritual Care, will conduct services for the High Holidays at Cedars-Sinai. The services also will feature cantor Jordan Gorfinkel.

Cedars-Sinai is hosting its first Case Management Conference next month in an effort to help case managers, social workers, nurses, physicians and allied health professionals identify the barriers that hinder care transitions.

Mentorship Encourages Healthcare Careers

For almost a half-century, Cedars-Sinai has participated in the Eve and Gene Black Summer Medical Career Program. The mentorship program was established by the Los Angeles Pediatric Society in 1969 to encourage students to pursue careers in health professions.

Circle of Friends Honorees for August

The Circle of Friends program honored 135 people in August. Circle of Friends allows grateful patients to make a donation in honor of the physicians, nurses, caregivers and others who have made a difference during their time at Cedars-Sinai.

Creation of Auditorium Mural to Be Discussed

Leo Gordon, MD, medical adviser to the Cedars-Sinai Historical Conservancy, will discuss the creation of the mural "Jewish Contributions to Medicine," which is displayed on the west wall of Harvey Morse Auditorium, on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
