Cedars-Sinai is helping to raise awareness about heart disease, the number one killer of women in the United States. The annual Linda Joy Pollin Women’s Heart Health Day — sponsored by the Linda Joy Pollin Women’s Heart Health Program at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute’s Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center — encouraged people across Cedars-Sinai to wear red on Feb. 3 to bring attention to heart disease in women.

Research Day Highlights Hearts and Minds


Christine and Jonathan Seidman lend new meaning to William Shakespeare's poetic paean to love: "the marriage of true minds." As co-directors of the pioneering Seidman Lab at Harvard Medical School, they are partners in both life and science. The Seidmans met in an undergraduate biology class at Harvard University and married in 1973. On Jan. 13, they shared their unique insights at an annual showcase of Cedars-Sinai's research achievements.

Nearly 500 healthcare professionals from Cedars-Sinai provided thousands of free health screenings at the annual Telemundo 52-KVEA health fair last month at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The event served as an essential healthcare resource for an estimated 25,000 attendees.

Reputation plays a major role in the scoring for U.S. News & World Report's rankings of the nation's top hospitals. U.S. News has partnered with Doximity to conduct an annual online survey for the rankings. The survey period opens in mid-February.

As many as 50 million Americans suffer from tinnitus, a debilitating health condition commonly known as ringing in the ears. New technology is taking a radically different approach to treating the condition by retraining the brain to ignore these types of sounds, alleviating them altogether.

FDA Warns of Rare, Severe Reaction to Chlorohexidine Gluconate

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently issued a warning about a rare but severe IgE-mediated allergic reaction to chlorhexidine gluconate, a commonly used over-the-counter and prescription skin antiseptic product. The FDA safety communication is a reminder to always obtain and document patient allergies prior to administration of medication or topical agent.
