The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a health advisory stating that taking Eculizumab increases the risk of getting meningococcal disease compared to otherwise healthy individuals in the United States. Eculizumab most commonly is prescribed for treatment of two rare blood disorders — atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria.
