The Core laboratories in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is changing its reporting for the following thyroid tests beginning Wednesday, Aug. 8. The change is being made to keep reporting consistent with current nomenclature and technical aspects of the tests.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a product recall for valsartan tablets due to the detection of trace amount of an unexpected impurity. Valsartan is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure.

Robert J. Taub, MD: 1935-2018

Robert J. Taub, MD, the first director of Palliative Care at Cedars-Sinai and an early leader of the Bioethics committee, has died. He was 83. Taub was born January 30, 1935, in New York City. He completed his undergraduate work at Dartmouth College and his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine.
