The Wisdom of Hawkeye Pierce

In a column on the Huffington Post website, Bruce Gewertz, MD, Cedars-Sinai surgeon-in-chief and chair of the Department of Surgery, writes that the maverick, wisecracking surgeons on the television show "M*A*S*H" may have been fictional, but they got one thing right: Creating a positive climate in the operating room can put everyone at ease, allowing doctors and nurses to perform at their best.
