Unit-Specific Changes Planned In Response to MD/RN Survey

Following a record response to the recent MD/RN Satisfaction Survey, medical staff can expect to see tests of change on the unit level over the next several months.

A total of 484 physicians responded to this year's online survey, representing a 56 percent increase over last year. The number of nurses who responded also increased by 17 percent this year. Overall, a total of 1,450 responses were received.

"This year, the survey questions were re-designed to assess the impact of recent initiatives," said Christopher Ng, M.D., co-chair of the MD/RN Collaborative. "The results will also be analyzed by unit, which will help us design tests of change specific to the needs of your unit.

"We want to give a big 'thanks' to all of the physicians who participated in the survey," Ng added. "We had a great turnout and received very valuable comments, which we are reviewing now."

The survey results are being grouped by themes and units, according to Ng. This will allow the Collaborative to determine what specific improvements are needed and where they should be implemented.
