Bioethics Noon Conference on "Ethics in the OR" - Wednesday, April 25

The Center for Health Care Ethics will sponsor a Bioethics Noon Conference on "Ethics in the Operating Room" on Wednesday, April 25 from noon to 1 p.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium. Lunch will be available at 11:30 a.m. The guest speaker is Audrey Shafer, M.D., Associate Professor of Anesthesia at Stanford University School of Medicine and staff anesthesiologist at Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System.

Women and Ischemic Heart Disease - Saturday, April 28

This full-day educational symposium will be held on Saturday, April 28, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Thalians Auditorium and will explore cardiovascular disease and the female-specific issues facing physicians and allied healthcare professionals relative to coronary physiology, diagnosis, risk factors, screening modalities, prevention and medical management strategies. National Kidney Foundation's Gift of Life Celebration - Sunday, April 29

The National Kidney Foundation of Southern California will host the 28th Annual Gift of Life Celebration on Sunday, April 29 at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank. Honorees include Elaine S. Kamil, M.D., who will receive the 2007 Spirit of Nephrology Award. Dr. Kamil is the clinical director of pediatric nephrology and program director of the Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship Program at Cedars-Sinai. Event tickets are $350 each.
