Ray Charles Cafeteria Dedication

Dedication Ceremony Included Musical Performance in the Plaza Lobby

During his visits to Cedars-Sinai over the years, legendary artist Ray Charles often remarked on how impressed he was with the way that hospital staff treated everyone, regardless of their background, with the same level of respect and care. For this reason, The Ray Charles Foundation and Cedars-Sinai chose to commemorate the Foundation's unrestricted donation to the medical center by naming one of the most visited areas the Ray Charles Cafeteria and Conference Center.

On September 24, a dedication ceremony to commemorate the donation was held in the Plaza Lobby following a special ribbon cutting in front of the cafeteria. Among those speaking at the event was Joe Adams, Charles' manager for four decades and president of Ray Charles Enterprises, who not only praised the hospital but also acknowledged the outstanding patient care provided by Alan Weinberger, M.D.
