Deal or No Deal? Organ Sales up for Debate

The Seventh Annual Morgenstern Debate set for April 29

It’s “Deal or No Deal” in this debate rematch between chief surgical residents Travis Kidner, M.D., and David Magner, M.D.

The two residents will debate the selling of human organs to alleviate the critical organ shortage in America during the 7th annual Dr. Leon Morgenstern Great Debates in Clinical Medicine.

In Case You Missed It

A podcast of the Medical Staff Open Forum held Thursday evening will be sent to physicians by e-mail next week. Roughly 100 physicians attended the event.

Thomas M. Priselac, Cedars-Sinai president and CEO, discussed the impact of new healthcare legislation on physicians at the event in Harvey Morse Auditorium.

Genetics linked to lower risk of sudden cardiac arrest

Physician-scientists at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute have found that a genetic variation is associated with lower risk of sudden cardiac arrest, a disorder that gives little warning and is fatal in about 95 percent of cases.

Findings were published by the Public Library of Science (PloS One).
