On-Demand Video Visits Rolling Out to Patients

Enhancing the patient experience is at the heart of Cedars-Sinai's mission. As the consumer demand for access to online care grows, we need to evolve in order to fulfill this mission and keep pace with the shifting healthcare landscape.

This is why Cedars-Sinai is rolling out Video Visit Now, an on-demand video visit service for eligible patients seeking advice for nonurgent health issues. The service is accessed through the Cedars-Sinai app, and the video visit is conducted remotely over a mobile device by a select group of Cedars-Sinai physician assistants, nurse practitioners and physicians.

Video visits are not offered as a substitute for in-person care. Much like a visit to urgent care, video visits provide patients with expedited access to a healthcare professional who can help address a chief complaint, in this case nonurgent issues such as:

  • Allergies
  • Bug bites
  • Colds (upper respiratory illness)
  • Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and upset stomach
  • Fever
  • Flu (influenza)
  • Medication questions
  • Minor rashes including acne, eczema and skin infection
  • Pink/red eye
  • Sore throat
  • Women’s bladder or urinary tract infection (UTI)

The addition of Video Visit Now marks an important step forward in the evolution of our approach to care, placing us alongside other elite healthcare organizations such as Johns Hopkins, Mayo Clinic, UCLA and Stanford, who already use this technology.

The Video Visit Now patient group currently comprises select Cedars-Sinai employees and their dependents 18 years of age and older. The service is free of charge during the initial rollout to a select group of patients, but we plan to transition to a fee-based service as we expand Video Visit Now to a broader patient population in the near future.

We are excited to see this service grow and lead to increased patient satisfaction across the health system, and we thank you for continuing to provide Cedars-Sinai patients with outstanding care.
