Pavilion's fourth floor will soon be home to 13 new, state-of-the-art operating rooms and 33 preop/recovery spaces. The fourth floor is scheduled to open on Monday, Nov. 11. Surgical services are currently housed on Pavilion's fifth floor, which will still have nine operating rooms outfitted with many of the same advanced technologies and services.

As we continue to emphasize the importance of physician wellness programs, I want to remind you that you now have access to a new service, which is designed to help manage stress and achieve a better balance between work and life. A few months ago, Work and Life Matters broadened its services through a partnership with Empathia Life Matters. The expansion means physicians can call anytime—24 hours a day, seven days a week—to request assistance or referrals.
A New Physician Welcome Reception is scheduled to be held at the Cedars-Sinai Accelerator, 8601 Beverly Blvd., from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12 for medical staff joining in either 2018 and 2019. The informal reception, which will feature wine, beer and hors d'oeuvres, will serve as an opportunity for new physicians to network with each other and medical staff leadership in a casual setting.
Clinicians are asked to take a brief anonymous survey about Serious Illness Communications Skills. The results will help inform recommendations to make sure clinicians have the necessary comfort and competency with serious illness conversations. You can take the survery here.
The Circle of Friends program honored 193 people in September. Circle of Friends allows grateful patients to make a donation in honor of the physicians, nurses, caregivers and others who have made a difference during their time at Cedars-Sinai.
